Experience the Height, Depth and BreadthI was delighted to be invited this last month to paint for the NW Conservative Baptist Women’s Camp held at Camp Tadmor in Lebanon Oregon!

My friend Pam Teschner spoke on the extravagant dimension of God’s love.  She invited me to visually capture the verses in Ephesians 3 that speak to this.

Ephesians 3:17b & 18
And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you’ll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ’s love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God.

There are several symbols in this painting that speak to the meaning in these verses. The woman, in a stance of worship, is planted firmly on a heart representing the love of Christ.  To the left a section represents the stars of the cosmos… highest of heights, down to the deepest of depths with an anchor.  The anchor represents faith. God’s promise to be with us at all times and in any circumstance we find ourselves in.  The anchor is green to represent the growth of our faith as we trust God. The woman has her arms spread wide to take in the embrace of the Father of Lights and feel the breadth of his love.  The purple in the background represents a holy place… the blue – peace and shalom in the presence of the Prince of Peace.

I thoroughly enjoyed talking and visiting with the women of the camp!  To hear their stories and how God uses art to speak his truth.  It is an honor to represent the gospel visually.  I am continually amazed of how God works through my simple brush strokes in such a short amount of time.
